In Washington AP reports President Truman is likely to sign the extender bill to revive the OPA. The measure would limit wartime powers, mainly affecting rents, with broad curbs or removals to follow. Senate approval came minutes after mid session amid questions on signature.
Washington reports promise of larger meat supplies and stable eggs at reasonable prices with a possible rise in fats and oils. Turkey and chicken supplies near last year’s levels, while OPA ceilings will be restored in part once Truman signs the bill. Pending new price ceilings, temporary adjustments will follow and life authority for the OPA extends to next June.
Veronica Lake was stricken with influenza and forced to leave her studio yesterday. Dr. Sam Hirschfeld administered penicillin and warned of possible pneumonia as her fever reached 104 degrees. Andre de Toth, directing the picture, said production would continue with other scenes until her return.
A young Navy dischargee, George L. Anderson, 19, of Clay R D 1, was fatally injured in a Wednesday night crash while returning from a wedding where he served as best man. He died at 5 45 A M in Crouse Irving Hospital. His girl companion escaped with minor injuries and three others were hurt in separate accidents nearby.
Nassau County police hunted a six foot man described as storey eyed for shooting 52 year old society matron Mrs Marjory Church Logan and wounding her daughter Marjory Jeanne Logan 26. The assailant allegedly raped the daughter as officers patrolled Long Island's exclusive north shore. Concluded on Page 10 Column 2.

Police identified Albert Summers and William Seigular as suspects in three recent crimes including a Wednesday night purse snatching and a Tuesday night theft. Detective Capt. William Metzger said both are charged with first degree robbery and denying involvement. Arraignment is expected after further questioning.

State's Attorney Tuohy said handwriting on Suzanne Degnan ransom note and lipstick on Frances Brown's apartment wall matched William Heirens, 17, a University of Chicago student. Heirens faces grand jury indictments for kidnapping and slaying the six year old and the former Wave. FBI confirmation noted.

A man identified as William C. Rannie and his three year old son drowned in Schoharie Creek in Montgomery County. He lost his life while attempting to rescue two of his three nephews during the incident. Two nephews survived.
A high pressure system over Syracuse brings pleasant weather with light winds and sunny skies through Friday. Nights will stay chilly around 60 degrees, so extra blankets are advised.
