Three generations of Chima family take oath of allegiance
Balwant Chima 85, his son Jessie 50 and both grandsons Shaan 12 and John 11 joined in becoming American citizens at the Onondaga County Courthouse. Pritam Chima died in 1990 and the ceremony marked a lifelong dream realized after years apart due to Indian family duties and immigration.

Dobbertins to test drive their dream Orbiter
Rick and Karen Dobbertin of Cazenovia plan a weekend test launch of the Orbiter, a James Bond type amphibious vehicle under construction since June 30, 1989. The craft will dip in Cazenovia Lake, then undergo 20 hours water testing and up to 2,000 miles road travel before display at Miller Court and a Sept. 6 world circumnavigation start at the New York State Fair.

Bones found on island tied to 1971 missing boy case
State police will analyze bones found on a Newcomb Lake island to determine if they belong to 8 year old Douglas Legg, who disappeared from the Seri Adirondack lodge on July 10, 1971. Investigators describe the remains as not readily identifiable and possibly animal. A party of 15 officers and forest rangers searched the island Monday.

Suit Seeks Closure of Oneida Casino After Opening
A federal suit filed Tuesday by Oneida Indians alleges the Turning Stone casino opened without National Indian Gaming Commission approval and without authorization to hire an outside management firm. The NIGC, created by Congress to regulate Native American gaming, could shutter the casino if the claims prove true. The suit also contends no permission was granted to contract for management services.
