Onondaga Nation to treat water without federal funds

Onondaga plans to start chemical treatment or filtration later this year as construction begins on a 1.9 million water system overhaul. Marcellus Construction will lay miles of pipe to serve 150 to 200 more homes, add a 150000 gallon tank and install fire hydrants. The project aims to disinfect with chlorine and provide improved fire protection while the nation funds the work from its cigarette shop revenue.
