The attorney for former Mayor Lee Alexander said a grand jury examining City Hall corruption is expected to indict by week’s end. U S Attorney Frederick Scullin Jr. told James McGraw the former mayor would be summoned to federal court when an indictment is handed up.
State and federal officials stopped a large cocaine producing operation in rural Herkimer County arresting 11 suspects, mostly from New York City, and seizing about 50 kilograms of cocaine. Investigators said the site was a major distribution hub and the largest in New York found to date. Suspects face federal charges and await arraignment.
