Equipment for construction of two powerful broadcasting stations in New York is reported by INS on July 11. The plan involves expanding transmission capabilities and reaching larger audiences across the region with improved radio service.
The Federal Telephone and Radio Corp of Newark announced the purchase of short wave broadcasting facilities now as powerful as any American stations. Transmitters will be on the West Coast with three per station including one 200 kilowatt unit and two 50 kilowatt units to ensure reception of American broadcasts from India to Siberia.
Two special committees led by unnamed U S representatives seek final settlement on quota representation and other technical points. Russia Mexico Brazil Cuba discussed in a World Bank loan plan for postwar reconstruction as talks progress with an optimistic outlook and large material acceptance cited by an official spokesman.
Sherrod E. Skinner vice president of General Motors and head of Oldsmobile division was elected a life trustee of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. A school graduate, he had previously served as alumni trustee.
Jacqueline Jenner has spent most of her eight years in hospitals with history of scarlet fever measles pneumonia broken nose and other ailments. Her Chicago birth mother Opal Jenner longs for home as Jacquelin awaits another transfer for further treatment in a different hospital.
