Manny Opper, 70, comedian and Syracuse first McDonald’s franchise owner, died Monday at Crouse Irving Memorial Hospital. A Chicago native, he moved to Syracuse in the mid-1960s with his wife Eleanor and opened the Erie Boulevard East McDonald’s and later a Liverpool location, selling both later. He was a writer, TV and radio performer, and part of Temple Adath Yeshurun, survived by son Norman, daughter-in-law Debbi, and three grandchildren. Funeral arrangements were set with Birnbaum Funeral Chapel in DeWitt.
