Armored Artillery Receives Battle Honors for Tunisia Action
The 68th Armored Field Artillery Battalion of the First Armored Division earned battle honors for gallantry during a three day rear guard at Kasserine Pass in Tunisia last February 11 through 17. The unit held off enemy flank attacks and slowed the advance enabling hundreds to withdraw and salvage equipment. Secretary of War Henry L. Stimson announced the award.

Infant polio case links birth and early transmission
A newborn in Wichita Kansas developed infantile paralysis 11 days after birth suggesting transmission at or shortly after birth. The mother had polio at delivery. she died four days later. The child recovered but lost movement in one leg. Case reported in JAMA from October 1943. Drs Biermann and Piszczek described it.
