Hallucinations debut struggles with hall acoustics and doubt

The premiere of Corigliano's Hallucinations in Crouse-Hinds Theater faced acoustical flaws that muted its strengths despite Keene's devoted conducting. Violinist Miriam Fried brought Mendelssohn to life with warmth and control, while Strauss's Ein Heldentoben closed the program as concertmaster Zaplatynsky delivered aristo cratic solos. the share of the audience was small.
