Heim named deputy city clerk in Syracuse amid patronage clash
San ford Heim, a four term county legislator and former Democratic executive candidate, was appointed today by City Clerk Robert Visser to the deputy city clerk post at a $20,000 yearly salary. The move comes after GOP leaders conceded control of the clerk’s office, despite earlier bids to install Falge and DelGiorno. Visser, who was promoted to clerk on Oct 1 after Mortimer Gallivan’s retirement, retains authority to appoint a deputy and says he will sue if ousted for political reasons. Heim, a Syracuse native and Le Moyne College graduate, previously chaired the State Fair Center of Progress Building and has expressed eagerness to serve the city.
