A massive dawn fire destroyed two buildings on North Peterboro Street in Canastota Madison County injuring at least two people and leaving about twenty four residents homeless. The blaze spread to a third building as workers battled flames with five aerial ladders in the downtown district. One injured resident, Phyllis Risley, 23, escaped with four children and received care at Oneida City Hospital while another person was treated at the scene.
