Throat slash leaves Syracuse student in serious condition
Lyton Kapenda, a 25 year old Syracuse University student from Malawi, is listed in serious condition at Crovse-Irving Memorial Hospital after slashing his throat with a knife. Police found a large serrated kitchen knife and a 4 inch gash near him at 733 Livingston Ave. Officer Mike Conroy said he provided first aid until Eastern Ambulance transported him. investigation continues.

Burglary charge denied in Police Court
James Belonge, 20, of 414 Burt St. pleaded innocent to a third degree burglary charge and was held on $1,000 bail until a Feb. 10 court appearance. Police said he broke into the Salvation Army and Social Services Center at 1105 State St, stealing stereo speakers, clothing, food, and toys. He was arrested after police traced footprints from the offices to his home.

Man Denies Drug Charge In Court Appearance
Robert L. Myricks aged 33 of 125 S. Crouse Ave pleaded innocent in Police Court to a misdemeanor charge of seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
