Rochester doctors say four year old Carolyn Joan Purcell does not have eye cancer but an inflammatory reaction that is curable. Her mother Mrs. Frank Purcell of Alpharetta Georgia says Mayo Clinic advised no removal of eyes and the family will return to Georgia for treatment to restore vision.
Senator Tom Connally denounces Senator Robert Taft’s air and sea defense approach as a faint-heart philosophy and urges Congress not to curb President Truman’s authority to send U.S. troops abroad. He cites Russian willingness to shed American blood and atomic capability as reasons for rapid defense buildup, while noting recent administration consultative gaps.

MR AND MRS RAYMOND CORTRIGHT of 315 Greenwood place were officially notified from Washington that their son Corp Raymond M Cortright is missing in action in Korea. He was wounded near the heart Aug 24 and hospitalised in Japan. A casualty list published last week listed him among the wounded. He has been missing since Nov 30. last letter dated Nov 1 said he was within 50 miles of the Manchurian border. He served with Headquarters Company 2nd Battalion 38th Regimental Combat Team. A brother Pfc Donald Cortright is training with the Air Force at Keesler Field, Miss. There are eight other sons and daughters in the family.
