Workers Walk Out At A E Dietz Co In A Strike
About 200 unionized workers at the A E Dietz Co struck the auto parts maker over alleged bad faith bargaining on a new contract. United Auto Workers Local 39 members set up picket lines on Wilkinson Street near the west side. A vote authorized the strike 137 to 40. About 75 members gathered outside this morning. Avery, a bargaining committee member, said the company refused serious talks and last formal negotiations were in September. He added 13 to 15 employees suffer Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and the union asked OSHA to investigate safety conditions.
