Japan blizzard kills 33 in worst storm in 18 years
A Siberian cold front brought a massive blizzard across northern Japan dumping up to 11 feet of snow. At least 33 people died and 42 were missing as avalanches and collapsing roofs trapped residents in Hokuriku and Niigata provinces. Police reported many deaths from roof snow removal.
