Million-dollar blaze strikes Queensboro Farm Products plant
Firefighters from ten departments fought an early morning fire at the Queensboro Farm Products Canastota plant on Main Street causing about 1 million dollars in damage. The blaze started in a fuse box on the second floor and an explosion hit the office area an hour later. No injuries were reported and 65 people were employed at the Canastota operation. The firm, founded in 1909, also runs a New York City staging operation and a milk collection plant in Herkimer.
