Forecast Finds Warmer Week for Syracuse Ski Fans

National Weather Service forecaster at Hancock Airport says above normal temperatures dominate the week. Tonight will be mostly cloudy with a 25 to 30 degree low, tomorrow near 45 with a 60 percent chance of rain, then generally fair weather through Friday with lows in the mid to upper 20s and daily highs in the 40s.

Dole backs governors in defense spending cuts push

Senate Finance Committee Chairman Sen. Bob Dole endorsed the governors in their bid to trim the federal deficit by reducing defense spending. He said he agrees with cuts in that area and believes budgeting can improve with restraint on defense growth.

Bombs Found at Three Las Vegas Strip Hotels

Slaying near church linked to after hours club robbery

Police pursue leads after Cephas Scott, 35, died from a shot to the upper torso at 1 20 pm following a break in at an after hours juice joint on 1406 S McBride St Witnesses say two gunmen wearing ski masks demanded money from seven patrons and fled with about 320 dollars as investigators collect evidence and question witnesses on the scene. Witnesses name Rev Jamison and Rev Epps nearby as neighbors describe the incident and uncertainty remains about arrests. The shooting occurred across from Henbrew Baptist Church and prompted a large police response with officers guarding the residence. Police say they have some ideas about the gunmen but no arrests have been made.
