A tragic house fire killed Mrs Charles Chanhias her husband Charles Jr and their relative Miss Li Sean Siloam in Siloam. Also perished were their sister and two others named Mbps James and a Mrs. James. Authorities investigate cause and identify victims.
Reports from the Yugoslav frontier say Italian units on the Albanian front faced Greek reconnaissance and defensive rearrangements. RAF bombers escorted by Hurricane fighters bombed Valona airfield in Albania, destroying hangars and causing several enemy aircraft losses. conflicting Italian claims noted two enemy planes shot down.
Lonéen February 28 Lieutenant Charles Standish Vereker heir to Lord Gort and former Dunkirk evacuee was found dead with a service pistol in his hand in Coffe Mutten Dorset. He was 29 and a second lieutenant in the Brigade of Guards. An inquest was announced for tonight.

In Wichita Kansas on February 25 James Pomeroy 328 a bachelor in a highway incident says a motorist slugged him took his SIG and left him unconscious by the roadside. The report mentions a rough encounter during a failed hitchhiking attempt.
An alarm sent firemen to a business district building where Capt. Walter J. Reiley and his crew rushed to the second floor. A distraught woman pleaded that her husband was inside a locked room and unable to exit, prompting the rescue effort.
Tokyo reports War Ministry adviser Takeo Iwakure will sail for the United States on March 6 as special aid to Ambassador Kichisaburo Nomura. Colonel Heikichi Shiro accompanies him to New York as a member of the Purchasing Commission. Iwakuro dismissed the threat of war and urged avoiding force despite vital South Pacific needs.
