Cotton held without bail in siege and slaying case
LeRoy Cotton was ordered held without bail on murder and kidnapping charges after a 14 hour siege in which George Sparks was killed. A pregnant woman and her infant son were held hostage. Cotton surrendered after releasing the hostages Earline Jones and her son Clinton. A mental examination was ordered and John M. Shannon named court counsel.

Survival credited to rented life raft after helicopter crash
