Clinton signals NATO air strikes over Bosnia if Serbs do not withdraw

President Clinton stressed NATO will strike heavy weapons around Sarajevo if not withdrawn or surrendered by Sunday. Aide cautioned that US participation is possible but uncertain as officials noted Serbs have only withdrawn about 50 heavy weapons from the Sarajevo exclusion zone.

IRS audit finds fundamental deficiencies in its own money management

The General Accounting Office in its first audit of the Internal Revenue Service found fundamental deficiencies in managing a 6.7 billion dollar budget for 1992. The report cites cash reconciliation gaps, late or early payments, inadequate documentation, and 1.5 percent duplicate payments.

Syracuse population declines as suburbs grow fast

The U S Census Bureau estimates Syracuse lost 1 025 people between 1990 and 1992 lowering the city population to 162 835 and dropping its rank to 110th. Onondaga County rose 1 percent while the Syracuse metro area grew 1 4 percent led by Madison and Oswego counties.
