An Associated Press poll finds 70 percent of adults think abortions should not disqualify Tennessee obstetrician Dr Henry Foster from being surgeon general. Twenty two percent say abortions disqualify him, eight percent undecided. Forty three percent see Foster's varied accounts as misstatements, while 43 percent view them as innocent. Foster appeals to Sen. Nancy Landon Kassebaum and Sen. Edward M. Kennedy.
