A weekend storm battered Central New York with 9.8 inches of snow on Friday and 9 inches by nightfall, while winds up to 36 mph created deep drifts and a wind chill of minus 16 degrees. Meteorologist Dan Bartholf cited a collision of systems over Maine and the Ohio Valley as the cause, with moisture drawn from the Atlantic Ocean.
