Two men faced drunk driving charges in Traffic Court. Walter G. Richard F. Colvin, 400 N Maus Street East Syracuse, denied the driving charge, posted $1,000 cash bail, and was ordered to reappear Feb. 18 after his car allegedly struck a parked auto.
Mrs Mildred K Brennan of 1000 Carbonst a widow was named police matron by Chief Fred G Arnold becoming the latest member of the Syracuse police force. She formerly sold goods at The Addis Company for ten years and has two children and four grandchildren.
Slush may freeze today as temperatures stay cold. Salt crews cleared catch basins and salted slip prone spots, while houses and roads remain slick. The Weather Man predicts a high near 20 and a low around 10 tonight, with more snow flurries and three inches already fallen over the weekend.
A four year old boy and his father escaped a two story frame house fire at 220 Monticello Drive just before 2:30 AM. Glenn Perigo carried Kevin through flames after waking to the blaze in the kitchen. The fire damaged every room and destroyed the family car, with expert estimates between 10 000 and 15 000 dollars.
