Audrey Meadows Dies at 71 in Los Angeles

Actress Audrey Meadows, famed for The Honeymooners paired with Jackie Gleason, died of lung cancer at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. She had been hospitalized since January 24, and her sister Jayne Meadows Allen released a statement thanking fans for their prayers.

Ex Syracuse schools chief Williams finalist for St Louis post

Former Syracuse superintendent Henry Williams, 54, is among three finalists for St Louis public schools leadership. He left Syracuse in 1993 to lead Little Rock, where contract non renewal looms. St Louis district enrolls over 43,000 students, with current leader David Mahan retiring in June. Williams plans a second interview and a decision is expected by month’s end.

Medicare fund loses money for first time since 1972

Federal data show Medicare Hospital Insurance Trust Fund fell by 35.7 million in fiscal 1995, leaving a balance of 129.5 billion.
