DA probes rights claim in Seymour case dismissal
The district attorney considered dropping the case against Seymour due to technical problems after a Wednesday hearing. Prosecutors say Seymour learned of an investigation into workers compensation fraud last June and discussed the allegations with Engel. He had faced prior charges of perjury, insurance fraud, and falsifying business records linked to benefits claimed after a 1994 back injury. Authorities say the tape supported Seymour’s account and the dismissal was appropriate based on his denials and the hearing.
