Fire in Ossining seven story building leaves 300 homeless
Ossining officials report a seven story apartment building with 92 units burned on Wednesday. The blaze began shortly before 11 30 am and required assistance from eight nearby fire departments. Four firefighters and 11 civilians were treated for smoke inhalation.

Jury to pick Diallo case jurors in Albany trial
The trial of four Bronx police officers accused in the Amadou Diallo killing will start with jury selection in Albany at end of January. Judge Joseph C. Teresi will preside after an appeals court moved the case out of the Bronx due to pretrial publicity concerns. The officers Sean Carroll Edward McMellon Richard Murphy and Kenneth Ross were indicted for firing 41 bullets at 22 year old Diallo during a Bronx neighborhood search for a rape suspect. Diallo was unarmed and died at the scene. officers claimed they mistook him for a suspect reaching for a weapon.
