Avenue of the Arts plan moves forward in Syracuse schools
Lombardi's team unveiled a $30 million proposal to renovate the MSA building and five other sites to form a downtown Metropolitan Arts and Education Center. The project pairs city properties with Syracuse City School District to house about 1100 King and McKinley-Brighton students during renovations and to create a nonprofit-led lease arrangement over 30 years.

Mixed Plan Aims to Renovate Syracuse Schools and Arts Center
A $30 million proposal blends renovations of Reid and Peck halls with a new middle school in an MSA building, funded through a nonprofit that would buy city schools for $1 and lease them back. The plan, dubbed Avenue of the Arts, includes First Baptist Church site rehab and a four-building complex with state aid covering most costs, but faces growing cost doubts and council scrutiny.
