Edward J. McLaughlin is sworn in by Judge Julian Edgecomb at the County Courthouse after Edgecomb retired. McLaughlin, elected in November over Democrat William S. Andrews by over 40 000 votes, takes office Tuesday as the new Family Court judge.
Judge Laurence J. Ritten band wed Mike Gaxi ola and Connie Marie Velo in Santa Monica courthouse and immediately sentenced Gaxiola to 15 years to life on two counts of armed robbery. Deputy sheriff Herbert C. Webb witnessed the ceremony.
