Reservists Sought for 90 Day Duty in Induction Drive

The KOCAL induction and recruiting officials report a boom in activity as pre-inductions for January reach 3,280 men. They seek reservists for a 90 day tour, with emphasis on administrative men and childless women under 18. The national emergency declaration spurs enlistments, and next month's pre-induction quota is said to be the largest since World War II. Sixty five men enlisted before Christmas will depart Thursday, with 40 more heading to Army and Air Force bases. The Air Force also promotes voluntary recall of second lieutenants via ROTC graduates and current officers, with a goal of 400 qualified men per month for technical roles in chemistry, physics, mathematics, and engineering. Active duty is described as extended, with entrants receiving refresher and indoctrination courses prior to advanced training.
