Public Works Commissioner Oscar Hewitt reports a rat extermination drive in Chicago has killed about 870000 rats since August 10. He estimates more than 50 percent casualties with roughly 30000 survivors after four and a half months of poison bait.
Farmer J G Hagen finished harvesting corn at dusk then plowed laid off and planted five acres of wheat before midnight. A neighbor asked to borrow the machine next day. The item appears in the Tillamook Oregon dateline for December 27.
