WAER Syracuse creates all jazz format after staff revolt
WAER at Syracuse University shifted to all jazz with urban contemporary after 10 pm under station manager David Anderson. The change triggered student resistance, staff removals, and a May air outage, then a June return and gradual expansion to 5 am to 2 am. WAER joined NPR in September, expanding news output and student training while a fund drive raised about $9,000 from 301 members.
