Tragedy in Fairfax: Brother Killed as Truck Hurtles at Bus
In heavy fog a semi driven by John M. Barber swerved into a ditch to avoid a stopped school bus near St Andrew's Catholic School. Three brothers, David 6 Steven 3 and Nathan 4 Ziegler, waited with their mother and were struck. Steven died, Nathan was in critical but stable condition with head injuries, David suffered a broken pelvis and leg. The accident near Fairfax, Minnesota, disrupted the first pickup of the day. Police said no charges yet as investigations continue. Barber was uninjured and the bus driver was not charged. The Ziegler family, farmers from a tight knit community, mourns a bubbly trio and the loss of Steven.
