Rockefeller estate shooting leaves couple dead and injured

Miles J. McMillin, 69, former Capital Times editor, shot himself after wounding Elsie Rockefeller McMillin, 58, at their Adirondack Trust Rockefeller estate. He died, she is in critical condition. authorities label it a murder suicide with all indications pointing to Mr. McMillin as the shooter.

Verdict Overruled Over Gun Demonstration At Trial

The New York Appellate Division reversed a weapons conviction of a Syracuse gang leader Williams after evidence showed Assistant District Attorney Menken displayed a sawed off shotgun during opening statements. Justices said such conduct prejudiced the jury since concealability was key, though Williams remains jailed on a 20 years to life term for a 1979 murder. A separate Rochester reversal ordered a new trial for Jon Thomas Jr after a juror was sent home, and a man named James Hunter’s voluntary plea to second degree manslaughter was upheld with him serving a three to six year sentence.
