Teacher fuels reading love with classroom book showcase
In September teacher Jodi Gunther found 12 of her 26 fifth graders said they were not readers. She started a year long plan to spark reading, reading to students at least 15 minutes daily and presenting 21 paperback titles, from Aesop's Fables to White Fang, with back cover summaries. By Thursday ten books were borrowed, reflecting students' limited ability to buy their own.
