Marine James R. McAnaney, formerly of Solvay, was flown to a California hospital for treatment of frostbite after his return from Korea. He described coming home as the best Christmas gift. McAnaney, a First Marine Division veteran, left Camp Pendleton in July and arrived in Korea in early August. He later served on Guam and returned to the United States in February, home on furlough in June.
