Pine Cone Opens After Millbraey Fossil Pit Find
Burlingame California December 17 A fossil pine cone from Monterey pine lay dormant for up to 100000 to 50000 years in the Millbraey pit is opening and shedding seeds under warmth. Dr Frank M Stanger curator San Mateo College museum said the cone was found in the same ancient stratum as mammoth bones. Normally pine cones drop seeds in spring after autumn fall.
