Diver search continues for missing plane pilot on Oneida Lake
Divers failed to find Charles H. Jacobs 22 of Vernon Center after his single engine plane crashed into Oneida Lake yesterday. The craft was dragged ashore by four boats around 11 am with the cockpit empty. Troopers from Troop D remain in ice cold water performing grappling and skin dives as observers describe the wreckage nose as ripped and the motor torn loose. The crash occurred about 2 10 p.m. after refueling at Canastote airport. Witness Walter Boland of Lakeport reported the scene.
