Bulletproof vest saves officer in Newburgh shooting
Parole officer Pasquale Giacobbi, 47, and an unidentified partner were on a stakeout when Giacobbi was attacked with a shotgun in a Washington Street alley. The blast was blocked by his bulletproof vest, and he fired three shots with his service revolver. A blood trail suggested the suspect may have been wounded. Giacobbi was hospitalized with trauma after the head blow. No arrests reported.
