Air crash kills 29 in college basketball team
A crash near Bluff Overlooking near a subdivision killed 29 people from a college basketball team. The plane, which had just taken off, left only the tail section intact as investigators traced the flight path and noted no radio contact before disappearance. The pilots were refugees from South Vietnam and Cuba, Ty Van Pham and Gaston Ruiz.

Power Outage Hits Utica Area From Freezing Rain
More than 4,000 Utica area residents lost power as freezing rain downed transmission lines spanning about 160 square miles. Niagara-Mohawk deployed 22 crews and 150 workers from Syracuse Canajoharie and Pulaski to restore service from Rome to Herkimer.
