The excess profits tax, yielding over 35 billion to date, will end this year as 38 percent regular corporate income tax returns to apply. Final payments for 1945 income are due December 15, with straggler payments after January 1. Corporations may carry back excess profits tax credits to two previous years, offsetting 1946 earnings below prewar normals, due to strikes or other causes.
Douglas Corrigan, famed for his wrong way flight, was added to the pilot staff of Royal Air Service, a freight line in Ontario. President J. Jackson announced Corrigan would fly cargo transports between Ontario and New York City, after his unsuccessful Prohibition party bid for U S Senator from California.
BELLEFONTH Pa UP John E Galloway 23 a Pennsylvania State College student was acquitted today of murder in the pistol slaying of his young bride at their campus trailer. After a four hour trial a nine man two woman jury returned the verdict. Galloway listened then sank back as the foreman spoke. The defense contended the shooting was accidental.
