GE's Navy contract to create 400 engineering jobs
The U.S. Navy awarded General Electric a 13.6 million dollar contract as part of a 1.5 billion package to develop weapon system controls for a new class of nuclear submarines. The deal will add 400 engineering positions at GE's undersea systems unit in Syracuse, the largest contract for the department. Connie Grasso said the firm will double recruiting to fill roles quickly.

Navy rescues 40 from burning Cypriot tanker Pivot near Hormuz
A U S Navy destroyer and a press helicopter saved 40 crewmembers from the Pivot after an Iranian gunboat attack in the Persian Gulf.
