Space station crew enjoys first visitors
Space Center Houston reports the international space station Alpha crew received its first visitors from space shuttle Endeavour. Commander Bill Shepherd Yuri Gidzenko and Sergei Krikalev worked with Endeavour’s crew installing solar wings and exchanging supplies while planning for more additions. The crew kept busy with housekeeping and repairs as the solar wings expanded the station to more room. Forty strokes of time away from Earth give the crew a view of the planet and some hobbies from spare parts as they await three more months aboard Alpha. NASA noted Endeavour’s Nov 30 launch included a booster separation issue that did not affect the mission thanks to a backup charge.
