Astronauts Return After Record Shuttle Flight

After 17 days 15 hours 54 minutes in orbit Columbia landed at 6 49 am ending the longest space shuttle mission. The dawn touchdown followed delays due to fog and low clouds and traveled about 7 million miles. Dr Story Musgrave, 61, became the oldest in space and the first to fly six times on space shuttles.

Female Santa fired after complaint about a woman in mall role

Frances Cauldwell of Red Hook says she was told she could not work as Santa at Hudson Valley Mall after a radio caller objected to a female Santa. Mall management says the action was by the photo company North Pole Photos, with the supervisor reportedly overruled by the company owner who offered her the job back. Cauldwell has not yet decided on returning.
