Bush heads to Venezuela after Chile visit on democracy tour

President Bush finishes a 24 hour Chile stop and moves on to Venezuela as part of a five nation swing to promote democracy and free trade. He is urged by reports of possible hostage releases from Iraq and Kuwait while Pentagon pressure on Saddam remains steady. In Chile a wave of anti Bush protests contrasted with a cordial reception. The Iraqi Parliament approves freeing over 8,000 westerners and others stranded since the Kuwait invasion, while Venezuela considers an hemispheric oil reserve to stabilize prices.
