Hunter 52 Found Alive After Three Weeks in Woods
George Westcott of Swansea, Massachusetts, was found three weeks after getting lost during an early winter storm near Moosehead Lake in Maine. He walked out with frostbite on both feet, in remarkably good condition, after wandering four days in deep snow and sheltering in hunting cabins. A phone worker spotted him limping along a logging road and arranged a ride to town. Westcott was hospitalized in Greenville for frostbite but otherwise stable. Over 100 officials and volunteers had searched the area for a week with helicopters and search dogs before declaring him missing.
