Copter crash doesn't faze mother of twins

A 31-year-old woman in premature labor gave birth to twin girls after a Life Flight helicopter crash landed in a foggy field near Whaley Park in Long Beach. The mother and babies were said to be fine, with officials noting an engine failure and oil pressure loss caused the emergency descent.

Support grows for roads plan raising fuel tax

Washington reports mounting support for legislation to raise revenue for roads bridges and transit to create jobs. The plan would generate 5.5 billion annually over six years by increasing the federal gasoline and diesel tax by five cents and adjusting other fees. It would fund interstate repairs thousands of bridges and subway lines and is subject to conference committee debates after the post election session ends December 17.
