New York franchise tax law boosts 1946 corporate boom
E. W. Burton, Albany deputy tax commissioner, told Syracuse Tax Executives Institute that 32,635 new corporations formed in New York since January 1946 reflect the new franchise tax law going into effect January 1 1946. He called the measure a step toward equitable taxation and noted the high level of new business as the law shifts the tax burden. Carrier Corporation official Kenneth Keller chaired the meeting at the Hotel Onondaga.
