West Berlin deploys 10 000 police as Communist agitators allegedly try to disrupt Sunday municipal elections outlawed in the Soviet sector. Western papers warn of rallies and interference as the Russian military government backs the puppet regime and financial reforms loom.
Police say Carl Chapman of Cato admitted to burglaries at Paul Jeffery Co. 935 Eriebis E Strathmore Paint in West Fayette Street and a gas station at 1460 West Genesee. He was captured at the D J Heaphy Co. store and confessed to the Reo Shaftin Co. theft with tools worth 986 dollars.
In his humorous editorial page column Fred Othman calls himself the fellow who can’t build a fence because there’s too much lumber, a quip he says fits the lumber business this turbulent year.
