Town judge implicates a colleague in ticket fixing scandal

In New York a town justice, Walter Steria of New Bremen, is censured for writing to James Church to intervene in a speeding ticket case. Church reported the conduct, the first formal complaint amid a long-standing ticket-fixing probe. Boughner of Riga received an admonishment for four incidents from 1973 to 1977. Both men may appeal within 30 days.

Slayings probe aid denied by federal agency

Erie County DA said the federal government will not cover any of the 1.5 million spent on the seven month Buffalo area investigation into the slayings of three black men. He noted FEMA had previously approved aid for Atlanta murders but rejected Erie County’s 1.2 million request.

Carey Announces Niagara River Cleanup Plan By State
