Eviction Warrants Placed On 15 Rent Strike Tenants
City Court Judge James R. Anderson ordered the eviction of 15 of 20 Syracuse Housing Authority tenants who did not appear for rent strike trial. Five cases remain for Monday as no jurors are on duty this week. The eviction allows SHA to enter premises within three days of service. SHA attorney John Papworth noted 40 such orders have been obtained overall. He expressed no desire to evict and favored negotiated settlement amid concerns of possible violence. Ford's brother killed in crash near Lebanon Tennessee
Leslie Henry King, 53, half brother of President Ford, died in a head on collision on Interstate 40 west of Lebanon. His car crossed into the eastbound lane and struck a tractor trailer. the truck driver Billy Hudson was uninjured. King lived in Cookeville and owned an auto parts store. Ford learned of the death from his wife and a White House spokesman said the president would not attend the funeral.
