North Syracuse School Cost Hike Sparks Board Clash
North Syracuse district voters and school board clashed over a proposed 5.0 million dollar cost boost for a new high school and related facilities. Board president Jeanette Woolis outlined bids showing a 6.84 million construction cost, with adjustments lowering the overall request to about 885 thousand dollars beyond initial figures, while arguing federal and state aid may fill gaps. Critics urged restraint, citing overrun fears and alternative options such as portable classrooms or shifts to reduce costs.
